Our Story…
Northwest Classical Ballet was founded in 2000 by Maricar Drilon — a former principal dancer with Ballet Philippines, Ballet West, Eugene Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theatre, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. What began as a small school (originally Washington State Ballet) grew under Ms. Drilon’s artistic vision into a studio known for strong classical training and personal instruction.
More than two decades later, NCB continues to carry forward the technical rigor and warmth that defined it from the beginning — a studio where every dancer is known and every step has purpose.
Rooted in Tradition, Focused on Growth
NCB exists because of a lineage of individuals who dedicated their lives to dance. Maricar Drilon trained under her mother in the Philippines before performing on stages around the world. Studio owner Carla Kendall-Bray grew up in her mother’s studio, soaking up decades of teaching before founding Dance Fusion Northwest in 2004.
That generational knowledge shapes everything we do. Our classes are technically demanding but never impersonal — every student is known, every correction is intentional, and the goal is always the same: build dancers who are strong, expressive, and confident.
A Sister Studio to Dance Fusion Northwest
As a sister studio to Dance Fusion Northwest, NCB is part of a larger dance family led by owner Carla Kendall-Bray. Together, DFNW and NCB offer a complete path for dancers — from classical technique to contemporary styles — with shared values, performance opportunities, and a community built on a genuine love for the art form.
Meet Our Instructors
Our teachers bring professional training and real performance experience to every class — but what sets them apart is how they connect with their students.
Performance Groups
NCB is more than a studio. From recitals to volunteering, our dancers and families are part of something bigger.
Dance Fusion Northwest
NCB is proud to be part of the Dance Fusion Northwest family — together, we offer dancers a complete path from classical technique to contemporary styles.
